Salame del Sassolungo - Comici

The Comici route on the Salame del Sassolungo (Salami Tower) is considered one of the most beautiful and challenging climbs in the Dolomites of Val Gardena and is renowned far beyond the region. From the valley, the Sassolungo massif reveals this striking rock needle, immediately catching the eye – every experienced climber dreams of ascending this pillar.

Right through the steep north face runs the Comici route – a historic masterpiece by the exceptional climber Emilio Comici. A fine crack cuts through the approximately 350-meter-high wall, offering superb climbing in the upper sixth grade. The exposure becomes especially during the traverse after the "nicchia" Comici and it is astonishing how such a steep wall can be climbed so elegantly with classic difficulties and traditional protection.
