Vallunga is renowned among ice climbers for its many demanding icefalls that form each year along this idyllic valley. However, ice climbers who feel comfortable at the fourth grade of ice will also get their absolute money's worth here. Tucked away in the furthest reaches of the valley lies 'Tunnel,' a true gem for anyone wanting to feel compact ice under their axes in a wild Dolomites setting. The 'Tunnel' route, along with the adjacent 'Perla Azzurra,' offers over 250 meters of varied climbing at moderate difficulty levels. As the name suggests, the 'Tunnel' route passes beneath an impressive jammed boulder at the very end—a true highlight.
