Guided Basic Alpine Climbing Course at Sella Pass

Are you already a passionate climber and finally want to master the rock faces of the Dolomites independently? In this basic alpine climbing course with the mountain guides of the Catores Alpine School in Val Gardena, you will learn everything you need to tackle multi-pitch routes. With the Sella and Geisler groups, our valley offers the perfect terrain to acquire the necessary knowledge for safe and enjoyable days of climbing on the Dolomite walls.

Program:

Course Content:

  • Equipment and knot theory
  • Rope management and belay station construction
  • Introduction to using mobile protection (friends, nuts)
  • Getting to know hammers and pitons
  • Rappelling / Abseiling
  • Planning and executing climbing tours
  • Meteorology and alpine hazards


Goal: After the three days of the course, you will be able to independently tackle well-protected alpine routes.

Additional Information:

Prerequisites:

  • Climbing experience in the gym and on rock
  • Confident lead climbing at UIAA Grade IV difficulty
