Many mountain enthusiasts dream of summiting the Cima Grande. The view from Mount Paterno toward the impressive north faces of the Tre Cime is truly captivating.
While the normal route from the south is winding and requires complex navigation, it is technically moderate and can be tackled safely with a South Tyrolean mountain guide. Via beautiful climbing of grade III to IV, you follow the route first ascended by Paul Grohmann in 1869, passing the circular ledge to finally reach the 2,998 m summit. From the summit, a breathtaking panoramic view opens up over the Cadini Group, the Cima Dodici, the Punta dei Tre Scarperi and the Croda Rossa. All these peaks are rewarding destinations offering adventurous Dolomite ascents and climbing tours.
