The Gran Cir is a scenic peak rising high above the Gardena Pass. In addition to challenging climbing routes, the mountain delights above all with its varied, partially secured normal route, which leads to one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Puez-Odle Nature Park. The cable-secured passages are limited to two short sections - the rest of the route requires easy scrambling and follows partly exposed sections. Unlike the Piccola Cir (Small Cir), this ascent is more of a challenging hike than a classic via ferrata.
At the highest point (2,592 m), a magnificent panorama unfolds: the view sweeps from the Sciliar across the striking Sassolungo and the mighty Sella Massif all the way to the famous giants of the Belluno Dolomites, such as the Civetta, Pelmo, Antelao, and the Tofane. Accompanied by a mountain guide, this ascent is also ideal for sunrise or sunset tours, allowing you to enjoy these magical hours at the summit mostly in absolute silence and all to yourself.

We drive by car to the Gardena Pass, where our hike begins. Equipped with headlamps, we set off at dawn and reach the summit of the Gran Cir via a partially secured trail (walking time approx. 2 hours, sure-footedness required). The ensuing sunrise and the magnificent panorama over the Dolomites are absolutely breathtaking.
If the tour is booked as a sunset tour, we start in the late afternoon and return safely to the starting point by the light of our headlamps after this spectacular natural event.
