Pisciadù-Tridentina Via Ferrata with a mountain guide

The Sella classic – the most famous via ferrata in the Dolomites

The Pisciadù via ferrata, also known as the "Ferrata Brigata Alpina Tridentina," is a true gem among the Dolomite ferratas. It offers everything a mountaineer’s heart desires: starting from Gardena Pass, there is almost no approach, leading straight into varied climbing that increases in difficulty towards the top.

Absolute highlights include the impressive waterfall and the spectacular suspension bridge. After a climb of about three hours, the picturesque Pisciadù Hut, situated right by the lake, rewards you with local cuisine. Enjoy this Alta Badia classic in the company of an experienced Catores mountain guide.

Program:

From the parking lot near Colfosco, it is only a five-minute walk to the start of the route. On-site, your mountain guide from the Catores Alpine School will provide an introduction along with tips and tricks to ensure the via ferrata is climbed safely and with plenty of enjoyment. The first section leads across flat slabs and iron rungs onto a ledge. Once there, we hike toward the Exner Tower, which the via ferrata circles like a spiral. Along the way, we pass the impressive waterfall fed by Lake Pisciadù.

The upper section of the via ferrata, which was renovated in 2025, is steeper and more demanding. Finally, a suspension bridge leads us from the Exner Tower directly onto the Sella Massif, marking the end of the climb. The descent from the Pisciadù Hut takes us through the steep and not-to-be-underestimated Val Setus, heading in a direct line back to the parking lot.
