The “Furcela de Saslonch” via ferrata (Ladin for Sassolungo Saddle), opened in autumn 2021 , is an impressive via ferrata at the foot of the striking Five Fingers peak. The climb begins with several steep sections and traverses before turning into an exciting ridge climb in the upper part.
Just before the exit near the Toni Demetz Hut, a final highlight awaits: a suspension bridge. The massive rock walls of the Five Fingers peak and the rugged towers of the Langkofel group create a wild alpine setting.
From the resting points, the panorama can be enjoyed in full, stretching across Marmolada, Passo Pordoi, and the Sella Towers. Thanks to its favourable location and southern exposure, this via ferrata can be climbed from spring to late autumn when accompanied by experienced Catores mountain guides.

The approach is done on foot from the Sella Pass in about one hour. This is followed by a 500 m long climb with 200 meters of elevation gain, graded B to B/C, including a C section that rises high above the hiking path up to the Toni Demetz Hut.
The highest point is the Sassolungo Saddle. From here, a wonderful view opens to the west over the Seiser Alm and towards climbers on the many routes of the Five Fingers peak. After a break at the Toni Demetz Hut (Heini), the descent takes about one hour along the hiking trail back to the Sella Pass. Alternatively, you can descend using the legendary Sassolungo cable car.
